SPECIAL LEAVE TO TEACHERS/OFFICERS
Your attention is drawn to paragraphs 18, 19 & 20 of Commission Circular No.74 of 28th April, 1980.
The University Grants Commission, at its 289th meeting heldl on 1st February 1990, decided to permit the Councils of Universities to use their discretion and grant special leave to teachers/officers without obtaining the prior approval of the Commission. The Commission also wished to advise the Councils of Universities to ensure that the guidlines stipulated by the commission are followed in allowing the quantum of the special leave available and also the way in which it is to be used.
The Heads of Higher Educational Institutions are kindly requested to furnish to the Commission the information of instances where special leave is granted to teachers/officers.
The provisions of this Circular will come into force with immediate effect.
