Standing Committees
Terms of Reference
The UGC, empowered by Section 4(2) of the Universities Act No. 16 of 1978, as and when required appoints Standing Committees for specific purposes, consisting of such members and with such powers, duties and functions as may be determined by the Commission. The Chairman of each Standing Committee shall be a member of the Commission.
Purpose
To provide a consultative forum that can effectively facilitate the technology transferring and commercialization of research at universities and some non-state Higher Education Institutions.
The specific functions are;
- To promote the transfer of new technology developed in universities to the industry & community through commercialization of research.
- To facilitate networking and strategic partnerships between universities, chambers, associations, and industries to facilitate the commercialization endeavors.
- To address the challenges faced by the University Business Linkage (UBL) Cells/ Higher Education Institution- Society Linkage (HEI-SL) Cells at universities and nonstate HEIs.
- - To provide a platform for universities and selected non-state HEIs to present the new technologies developed.
