IMPLEMENTATION OF THE AMENDED SCHEME OF RECRUITMENT FOR PROMOTION TO THE POST OF SENIOR STAFF ASSISTANT

Your reference is requested to paragraph 03 of Commission Circular No. 828 dated 09th June 2003 on the above matter.

At its 646 th meeting held on 20th November 2003, the University Grants Commission decided to grant all Senior Staff Assistants the incremental benefits for each year of service completed in excess of 05 years by amending paragraph 03 of the above mentioned Circular.

The amended paragraph is given below :-

(a) All Senior Staff Assistants and Staff Technical Officers, Grade I who were promoted under the old Scheme of Recruitment be granted the incremental benefits as indicated in paragraph 02 above from the date of their promotion by adjusting the salary without payment of arrears for the period upto 31st December 2002 and they may be placed at the relevant salary point with effect from 01.01.2003 after the adjustment of salaries of such employees.
AND
(b) Any Staff Assistant or Staff Technical Officer, Grade II who is eligible for promotion to the post of Senior Staff Assistant or Staff Technical Officer, Grade I under the new Scheme as given in Commission Circular No. 828 and who has completed more than 05 years of service in the A-05 grade as at 31st December 2002, be also granted the incremental benefits as indicated in paragraph 02 above from the date of their promotion by adjusting the salary without payment of arrears for the period upto 31st December 2002 and they may be placed at the relevant salary point with effect from 01.01.2003 after the adjustment of salaries of such employees.


The incremental benefits given in the promotion to Senior Staff Assistant in terms of Commission Circular No. 682 should also be re-adjusted.

The Commission further decided to withdraw the Marking Scheme circulated with Commission Circular No. 828 and to implement the other provisions of Commission Circular No. 828 with effect from 01st January 2003, subject to the above amendments.

Please take action accordingly.
