SELECTION OF MINOR EMPLOYEES TO THE POST OF CLERK GR-III

Your attention is invited to Commission Circular No. 50 dated 27th November, 1979.

The University Grants Commission at its 518th meeting held on 19th June 1998 having noted the difficulty in revising 25% of the vacancies in the post of Clerk Gr. 111 for appointment of minor employees who are promoted in terms of the approved Scheme of Recruitment decided that the following course of action be taken. 25% of the total number of vacancies in the post of Clerk Gr.III created from 1st January to 31st December each year be reserved for appointment of minor employees to the post of Clerk Gr. III



A list of candidates prepared in the order of merit should be maintained at the UGC for filling of 25% of the vacancies occurred in a year and this would be valid up to the date of selection of the next batch of minor employees for promotion to the posts of Clerk Gr. III



Universities to request the UGC to appoint a minor employee selected for the post of Clerk Gr. lll in the order of merit as soon as a vacancy of Clerk Gr. lll reserved for minor employees occurred and the UGC to take appropriate action.



Applications can be invited from the employees who are eligible as at 01st .January each year following the existing procedure 3. In terms of the above Commission's decision, one out of four vacancies in the post of Clerk Gr. 111 created in each occasion during the course of each year should be reserved for appointment of minor employees. Universities, Campuses and Institutes should take action to fill such vacancies by appointment of minor employees who have been kept in the list of merit maintained at the UGC.
