Opening ceremony of the New Building of the University Grants Commission (UGC) was held on 15th September 2017 at the UGC secretariat.

Professor Mohan de Silva, Chairman, Professor P. S. M. Gunaratne, Vice Chairman, Dr. Priyantha Premakumara, Secretary of the UGC, Heads of Departments, other officers and employees of the UGC were present.

The University Grants Commission bid at the General Assembly of the INQAAHE biennial conference in Bahrain from 27th February to 2nd March to host the next biennial conference of INQAAHE in 2019 Sri Lanka. The UGC is pleased to announce that Sri Lanka won the bid beating two other countries.
